How do I install my products?


All of our current products can be installed by following the steps below.

  • Close any host programs you want to install products into.
    For example if you're going to install Magic Bullet into Adobe Premiere, close Premiere first.

  • Download your installer.

    • If you purchased our products through redgiant.com, your installer will be located on your account's Products page.

    • If you acquired our products elsewhere, retrieve your installer from our Installers page.

  • Launch your downloaded installer.
    Inside the downloaded folder will be your installer, which will have the filename of the suite your product(s) belong to. Once launched, proceed through the Introduction and License pages.

    • If you downloaded multiple installers, makes sure you only have one open at a time.

  • When prompted, select the products you'd like to install.
    You do not need to install everything provided by the installer to install just one or two products, nor do you need to have previous versions installed prior to installing upgrades. Selected products that are not owned will be installed as trials.

  • Install.
    If prompted for administrative credentials, enter them accordingly; the installer places files accessible by all users on a given system, which can only be achieved if you are both logged in as an administrator and enter your administrative credentials when prompted.

    • Products need to be installed using an administrative account. You likely using an administrative account if you are the only user on a given system. Running installers in a non-administrative account (even when opting to run the installer as an administrator) is typically insufficient.
  • Activate.
    Click Activate in the lower left of the installer's final page to launch the Red Giant Application Manager and activate the product(s) you'd just installed.

  • Launch whichever program you'd installed your products into to start using your products.
    Most products get installed into the Effects Library.

    • For PluralEyes and Premiere, the program will appear under Window > Extensions

    • For PluralEyes and Final Cut Pro X, you'll use PluralEyes with it as outlined in this video

    • For Davinci Resolve and Universe, the effects appear under the OFX tab

Additional notes:

  • You do not need to uninstall anything prior to installing our products, this includes upgrades and updates.

  • If you have a previous version of a product installed and are installing a newer version, it will likely be overwritten.

    For example, Looks 4 would overwrite Looks 3. Particular 3 would overwrite v2.6. When plugins are overwritten, the newer version is generally backwards compatible and will read the previous version's information, but is advised to finish working on your projects using a given product prior to upgrading.

    • Some discrepancies include:

      • PluralEyes 4, which installs alongside PluralEyes 3.5, 3, or 2

      • Mir 3, which installs alongside previous versions of Mir
      • Any products with a roman numeral denoting the version will not overwrite their predecessors (ex. Colorista IV installs alongside Colorista III), nor can they read their predecessor's information.
