Backwards Compatibility
When updating and upgrading software, we always strive to provide backwards compatibility to preserve the ability to re-visit old projects and take advantage of new features. However, sometimes we are unable to find a seamless solution to this due to host limitations and other factors. This will serve as a guide to maintain backwards compatibility with projects created using Mojo 1 in a Mojo 2 environment going forward.
To ensure that FCPX Projects created with Mojo 1 maintain compatibility with Mojo 2, Mojo 2 must be installed “over” Mojo 1.
If Mojo 1 is already installed for FCPX on your system:
- Run the Magic Bullet Suite 12 Installer. Mac / Windows
- Make sure Mojo is selected in the “Registration” page in the Installer.
- Make sure that Final Cut Pro X is selected in the “Installation Type” page in the installer.
- Complete the installation and you are all set! Projects created with Mojo 1 will now be using Mojo 2.
- Going forward, we highly recommend starting new projects with the Mojo plug-in located in the “Magic Bullet Suite” category. See image
If Mojo 1 is not already installed for FCPX on your system:
- Run the Color Suite 11.1.4 Installer. Mac / Windows
- Make sure Mojo is selected in the “Registration” page of the Installer.
- Make sure that Final Cut Pro X is selected in the “Installation Type” page of the installer.
- Complete the installation and make sure that the installer isn’t left open before continuing to step 5.
- Launch the Magic Bullet Suite 12 Installer.
- Make sure Mojo is selected in the “Registration” page of the Installer.
See image

Projects created with Mojo 1 will work with Mojo 2 as long as the “Magic Bullet Mojo” category is present in your Effects Browser.
